Community Action for Coral Reef Restoration.
At WNDRFL, we believe that real change starts at the local level. That’s why we’re partnering with Oceanus, a nonprofit organization leading one of the most impactful coral reef restoration programs in the Mexican Caribbean. This initiative aims to empower the local community of Tulum through education, fieldwork, and certification. Participants will be trained to understand the challenges our reefs face, and how they can take part in the long-term efforts to regenerate marine ecosystems. This is a unique opportunity to join a meaningful program that blends science, environmental action, and community collaboration, turning knowledge into direct, hands-on restoration.
Tulum 2025: Training Workshop
Reef Restoration Program by Oceanus
Schedule:
Introductory Talk: July 31, 5:30 PM
Theoretical Training: August 1, 5:30 PM
Full-Day Training (Theory + Practice): August 2, ALL DAY
Oceanus will certify a local group of activists in Tulum, so they can serve as informed ambassadors of the reef restoration project, sharing its goals, progress, and importance with visitors and the broader community.
Training will begin with an introductory session, followed by progressive workshops. Participants must commit to completing the full course and fieldwork activities as part of the certification process.
Certified participants will receive a manual with guidelines and best practices to help spread awareness and encourage both locals and visitors to be part of the movement. The goal is to empower local voices as environmental leaders on both a community and global level.

A selection process will be in place due to limited availability.
Participants must be in good physical condition, able to swim and snorkel.
